Taipei—The 33rd Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE 2025) will be held from February 4 to 9 at Taipei World Trade Center, Hall 1. With the theme "Follow Your Fancy in Reading", this year's book fair is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and organized by the Taipei Book Fair Foundation, with support from the Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Keelung City governments. Readers are invited to explore the captivating worlds constructed by books through diverse thematic pavilions and engaging activities, experiencing the boundless magic of reading.

Diverse Theme Pavilions for a New Reading Experience

The book fair offers several exciting thematic pavilions, each with unique features:

  • Children’s Pavilion: A Fairytale Adventure
Designed as an interactive experience, children under 12 can embark on a journey through engaging checkpoints and receive personalized book recommendations, blending fun with education to spark their reading enthusiasm.

  • Digital Pavilion: The Hotel of Crossed Destinies
Showcasing a groundbreaking collaboration between AI and eight renowned authors, this pavilion presents a unique exhibition that merges literary creation with digital technology, immersing visitors in an endless world of generated stories.

  • Taiwan Comics Pavilion
Featuring over 30 popular Taiwanese comics, the pavilion offers a rich cultural experience through digital platforms, live talks, and a selection of comic-themed merchandise, inviting readers to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of Taiwanese comics.

  • Literature Zone: From Words to Screen
Focusing on the intersection of literature and visual storytelling, this pavilion, curated by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature and top publishers, showcases the transformation of words into films, offering insights into the creative process behind literary adaptations.

  • Civic Pavilion: Words on the Runway & Spotlight on Reading
This pavilion transforms independent publishing and the creativity of NGOs into a fashion runway and a space for social dialogues. It demonstrates how books can inspire cultural trends and ignite meaningful conversations.

Celebrity Recommendations and Interactive Reading Activities

A new addition this year, the "Follow Your Fancy in Reading" Celebrity Recommendation Exhibit, features five notable personalities, including baseball star Steven Chou (周思齊) and TV host Bowie Tsang (曾寶儀), sharing their curated booklists. During the fair, visitors can interact with these celebrities, fostering cross-disciplinary connections to promote reading culture. The fair also features a "Book Wall" and "Message Wall" for visitors to share their thoughts and wishes, creating a deeply engaging experience.

Over 1,000 Salons and Forums to Inspire You

There will be more than 1,000 salon events and professional forums during 2025TIBE. Highlights include the International Publishing Forum, focusing on Italy, this year’s Guest of Honor, with discussions on Italian publishing data and public reading policies, as well as specialized talks on children’s books and literary adaptations for screen. A special presentation by Grazia Gotti, a Bologna Children’s Book Fair consultant, will explore the future of children’s books.

Various Discounts to Encourage Participation

TIBE 2025 offers free entry for local readers aged under 18 and for those traveling from southern and eastern Taiwan with valid train tickets. Visitors with Cultural Coins (aged 18–22) can also enjoy free admission. Pre-sale ticket buyers will receive exclusive gifts, and visitors can enjoy additional perks such as book fair-themed merchandise for purchases exceeding specific amounts.

Fun Holiday Activities with Great Prizes

Guest of Honor - Italy: In the High Imagination

The 2025 Taipei International Book Exhibition welcomes Italy as the Guest of Honor, offering an inspiring showcase of Italian creativity and culture. The theme "In the High Imagination" draws inspiration from a verse in Dante’s Divine Comedy, celebrated by Italo Calvino in Six Memos for the Next Millennium. Creativity knows no boundaries, and Italy’s featured participants—illustrators, authors, academics, and artisans—demonstrate this through their diverse works. With a delegation of over 40 representatives, Italy brings a strong presence to foster cross-cultural dialogue through exhibitions, discussions, and performances.

This year's France Pavilion (A1021) is jointly presented by the Bureau International de l'Édition Française (BIEF), the French Office in Taipei, and Librairie Le Pigeonnier, continuing to showcase the richness of French literature and publishing culture through diverse themes and formats. The activities include live demonstrations of children's book creation, an introduction to the publishing industry and market, discussions on the potential for academic publishing collaboration between France and Taiwan, insights into the art of translation, and a sharing session on the creative experiences of a resident comic artist. These events emphasize cultural exchange and creative expression.

The German Pavilion (A1122) at the 2025 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE), organized by the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Goethe-Institut Taipei, features award-winning books and curated collections. Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Thomas Mann’s birth, the pavilion offers engaging lectures on his works, fun German language lessons, and sessions on the German children's book market, the impact of AI on publishing, and contemporary trends in children's and young adult literature and theater.

  • Thailand

Step into the enchanting realm of "Mystical Thailand" (A819) at the 2025 Taipei International Book Exhibition, where stories of suspense, horror, and the supernatural await. Organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) in collaboration with the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (PUBAT) and supported by the Thailand Creative Culture Agency (THACCA), this year’s Thailand Pavilion immerses visitors in the rich tapestry of Thai literature and culture.

Explore the mysteries of Thailand’s spiritual and cultural heritage, where timeless legends and modern storytelling come together to create a world of thrill, intrigue, and awe. Belgium

The Federation Wallonia-Brussels (FWB), Wallonia-Brussels International (WBI), and the Belgian Office in Taipei present the "Lisez-vous le Belge?" program, showcasing Belgian fiction, non-fiction, children's books, and comics. This year, illustrator Maud Roegiers, known in Taiwan for What Is Life? (La vie, c'est quoi?), My Little Grief Elf (Mon chagrin à moi), and Shh! It's a Secret! (Les petits et les (trop) gros secrets), will interact with readers, sharing her creative journey and discussing how to explore life’s philosophical questions with children.

  • Czechia

The Czechia Pavilion (A1215), organized by the Czech Centre Taipei, showcases the richness and diversity of contemporary Czech literature. Highlights include discussions and readings by acclaimed authors Marek Torčík (Memory Burn) and Magdaléna Platzová (Life After Kafka), delving into themes of identity, resilience, and literary legacy. The launch of the Anthology of Contemporary Czech Literature provides Taiwanese readers with a glimpse into 30 years of Czech prose, accompanied by a special screening celebrating Czech culture. Jonáš Zbořil, journalist, poet, and writer, along with Kryštof Eder, editor of the anthology, will also join the author discussions, offering further insights into Czechia’s vibrant literary scene.

The Czech Centre Taipei will host the opening of the Czech Pavilion at the 2025 Taipei International Book Exhibition and launch "外在所缺乏的,內心尋覓不著", a collection of contemporary Czech literature. The event will take place on February 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM (A1215, Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1). In addition to a selection of books from Poland (A1014), the Polish Book Institute has invited renowned picture book creators Gosia Herba and Mikołaj Pasiński to Taiwan to share the delicate artistry and vibrant creativity of Polish children's picture books with readers. Creative workshops inspired by Gosia Herba's Balonowa 5 and Invented by Animals will also be held during the book fair, offering interactive experiences for readers.

  • India

Organized by the India Taipei Association, the India Pavilion (A1211) features a space-themed design showcasing India's advancements in cutting-edge technology. Visitors can enjoy cultural experiences such as Kathputli puppetry bookmark DIY with Indian folktale storytelling, children's storytelling sessions exploring India’s cosmic tales, and a lecture, From Page to Screen: Natyashastra and the Indian Way of Storytelling, which delves into the fusion of traditional literary arts and modern technology.
