Taipei, Taiwan – The
IFA Berlin 2024, the world’s largest and most indicative consumer electronics
show, is set to open grandly in Berlin, Germany from September 6 to 10, 2024.
This event is not only a major occasion in the tech industry but also a global focal

of the show, and the German Trade Office Taipei in collaboration with IFA
Management today hosted the only “IFA Media Reception” in Asia. Special guests
include IFA CEO Leif-Erik Lindner and Executive Director Dirk Koslowski, who
visited Taiwan to preview the technological highlights and trends that will be
showcased in Berlin this year. Additionally, with the development of AI
technology, the event also featured guest speakers such as Steve Chou, Account
Director of IPEVO, Andrew Hung, CEO of TSGC, and Jerry Chang, President of
FaceHeart, who discussed applications of artificial intelligence in
communication, photovoltaic panel recycling, and digital healthcare.
Ms. Leonie Yang,
Acting Delegate of German Business and Head of the German Trade Office Taipei
stated “The IFA is a key platform for promoting trade between Taiwan and
Germany, especially as Taiwan plays a crucial role in the development of AI
technology. The close cooperation between Taiwan and Germany will create
endless possibilities for the future development of AI and its innovative
applications.” IFA CEO Leif-Erik Lindner said, “After nearly a century of
playing host to groundbreaking launches in the ever-evolving world of
technology, we at IFA are starting a new chapter: to make 'Innovation for
All'. With AI at the forefront of that future, we look to Taiwan as the
perfect partner to usher in this new era together with us.”
Last year, IFA
attracted 2,285 companies from 49 countries and over 180,000 visitors from 138
countries, with more than 80% of attendees planning to return this year. This
year, IFA has planned ten main exhibition area themes, including Home &
Entertainment, Computing & Gaming, Household Appliances, Photo, Video &
Content Creation, Smart Home, Fitness & Digital Health, Communication &
Connectivity, IFA Next, Audio and Mobility, highlighting IFA's status as a
leader in technology trends.
This year, coinciding
with the 100th anniversary of IFA, the organizers have specially planned a
citywide '100Moments' event in Berlin, including time-limited, brand experience
pop-up exhibitions, extending IFA from the exhibition center to the entire
city, immersing in the centennial celebrations of IFA. The event includes a
celebration with the German street fashion brand 6PM, a retrospective
exhibition of IFA100, and a photography workshop for young photographers.
Through different exhibition areas and activities within the city, visitors can
also experience the diverse charm of the city.
Furthermore, as the
wave of AI technology sweeps across the globe, this edition of IFA will also
explore the impact of AI on household and consumer electronics in everyday life
and discuss the European Union’s key role in global AI regulation, especially
as AI algorithms are applied in industrial manufacturing and medical
diagnostics, potentially raising ethical issues and related supervisory
solutions. The organizers will co-host the 'IFA AI Summit' on September 9th with
Handelsblatt Group, to delve into the practical applications and prospects of
AI, expected to attract numerous professionals and industry leaders.
At the press
conference, experts who apply AI technology in various fields were also invited
to share the potential future developments of AI. Steve Chou from IPEVO shared
the AI Meeting Room, which not only enhances the quality of remote meetings but
also generates verbatim transcripts of meetings with AI assistance,
highlighting meeting key points and action items. Andrew Hung of TSGC proposed
the zero waste, low carbon emission, pollution-free one-stop automatic solar
panel recycling equipment PV Circulator, combining Vision AI, Auto ML, AIoT,
and Web3 smart technologies to achieve fully automated disassembly and
recycling, addressing the environmental impact of discarded solar panels; and
Jerry Chang of FaceHeart shared the “non-contact physiological information
measurement software” FaceHeart Vitals, which allows users to continuously
measure heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), blood pressure, blood oxygen,
stress index, and breathing rate using just a tablet or smartphone camera aimed
at the face.
