Passenger revenue reached NT$ 2.9 billion, with 25% YoY growth. In the cargo market, revenue reached NT$ 378 million in April, up 85% YoY. Following the implementation of the new U.S. tariff policy, the de minimis loophole for small shipments was lifted on May 2, which will impact e-commerce demands. However, shipments of electronic products, such as wafers, remain stable due to the postponed tariffs on certain tech goods. In addition, the start of the export season for fresh fruit is supporting short-term cargo demand. STARLUX will continue to monitor evolving policy and market dynamics in order to adapt its strategy for developments in the passenger and cargo sectors.
STARLUX continues to expand into emerging markets. Following the launch of the Taipei/Taichung–Kobe route on April 18, STARLUX began ticket sales for the Taipei–Miyakojima (Shimojishima) route on May 7. Located just an hour’s flight from Okinawa’s main island, Miyakojima is known for its clear blue sea and stunning white sand beaches, earning it the nickname “the Maldives of East Asia.” The route has already been enthusiastically received by the market and is scheduled to launch on August 22 with two flights per week. Miyakojima is STARLUX's 12th destination in Japan, bringing the total number of weekly flights to Japan to 103 — more than 40% of total flights — and further strengthens its network and competitive position in Northeast Asia. On the long-haul front, STARLUX will launch the Taipei–Ontario (California) route on June 2 with four weekly flights, expanding its North American presence and enhancing its intercontinental network.
Apart from launching new routes, the
Taipei–Fukuoka route will be upgraded to A330neo widebody aircraft from late
May through the peak summer season to meet the growing demand. From Taichung,
service to Takamatsu has increased from three to five flights per week, Okinawa
from four to six, while daily service to Kobe will continue. These flexible and
frequent flight options offer travelers from central and southern Taiwan
convenient and diverse ways to explore Japan.
