TAIPEI, Taiwan – DEinternational Taiwan Ltd., the service unit of the German Trade Office Taipei, has organized the 4th edition of the German Pavilion at Energy Taiwan 2020.
“The shift towards renewable energy generation and industry began as a political initiative and has evolved to increased customer demand for environmentally friendly goods on the market,” stated Axel Limberg Chief Representative and Executive Director of the German Trade Office Taipei, “This means that in industrialized economies like Taiwan and Germany, we see a rapidly increasing demand for green energy as production resource.”
In the first nine months of 2020, renewable energy made up almost 53% of the gross electricity consumption in Germany. This new record high reflects how clean energy has been growing constantly in Germany’s energy mix since the initiation of the energy transition policy by the German government in 2010. Electricity generation from renewable energy sources surpassed lignite and hard coal for the first time in 2019. Wind energy remained the largest renewable energy source with a share of 51.6%, followed by solar energy with 19.5%.
Axel Limberg emphasized, “German companies have gained ample experience in the renewable energy sector over the past two decades. This has not only enhanced German industry and its products but also positions German companies as ideal partners for Taiwanese companies in the renewable energy sector. Many are eager to share their know-how with Taiwanese partners aiming to reach the ambitious energy transition goals set by the Taiwanese government. We are delighted that our exhibitors have joined our German Pavilion to share their expertise.”
