TAIPEI, Taiwan – Together with the Taiwanese Smart Machinery Promotion Office, the German Trade Office Taipei (GTO) organized the “5th Taiwan-Germany Smart Machinery Online Forum” on September 9, 2020. The forum was co-organized by the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), and the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs (IDB) acted as advisory unit.
To establish a close, cooperative relationship and to
improve the performance and quality of PET linear fully electric high-speed
blow molding machines with a new generation of Industry 4.0 solutions, Beckhoff
Automation Taiwan and ChumPower Machinery officially signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) during the forum.
Guests of honor were Mr. Jang-Hwa Leu, Director General
of the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs; Mr. Alex
Ko, Chairman of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry; as well as Mr.
Jimmy Chu, Co Chairman of the Taiwan Germany Joint Business Council and
Chairman of the Fair Friend Group, all of whom delivered welcoming remarks. Dr.
Winfried Horstmann, Director General of the Department of Industrial Policy at
the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Abteilung
Industriepolitik Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie) and Klaus-Peter
Wilsch, member of the German federal parliament (Deutscher Bundestag) and
Chairman of the German Taiwanese Parliamentary Friendship Group, joined the
forum via video.
“We hold the Taiwan-Germany Smart Machinery Forum for the
fifth consecutive year. The signing of the MoU between Beckhoff and ChumPower
Machinery proves that German and Taiwanese companies are perfect partners that
complement each other when developing innovative Industry 4.0 solutions,”
stated Axel Limberg, Chief Representative and Executive Director of the GTO
during his opening remarks. He further emphasized, “Broadcasting this forum
online is a great way to bring German and Taiwanese experts together in times
of travel restrictions. We are delighted to contribute to the continuation of
bilateral exchange that is crucial to jointly develop the future of smart
manufacturing.
Six renowned experts from Beckhoff Automation Taiwan,
ChumPower Machinery, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Siemens
Taiwan Ltd., TÜV Rheinland Greater China, and Yeong Chin Machinery delivered
keynote speeches in which they discussed the role smart manufacturing
platforms, system integration maximizing value, as well as smart manufacturing
technology trends.
The event closed with a panel discussion moderated by Kuo
Chin Chuang, Honorary Chairman at Far East Machinery Industry Co., Ltd., and
Executive Director of the GTO Mr. Limberg. The focus of the discussion lay on
the impacts of ongoing trade disputes and the COVID-19 pandemic on global
supply chains and business opportunities arising from these challenges.
