Sending endless love and care through the 24th International Volunteer Day Continued social participation across all of Taiwan

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, OCTOBER 19th, 2019 — International Volunteer Day (IVD), annual multiple volunteering opportunities arranged by employees of each operation under Prudential Financial, Inc. (PFI), is one of the most special community service events of PFI.   In Taiwan, Prudential of Taiwan (POT) has been dedicated to community service for many years. In fact, today is the 24th IVD and is held simultaneously in northern, central, and southern part of Taiwan today. For corporate social responsibility to make a difference, the company must boldly respond to changing social needs. This year, 19 volunteering projects are held throughout Taiwan, with almost 1,300 employees, policyholders, and family members participating.
According to Dylan Tyson, POT President and CEO, “the annual IVD embodies Prudential’s Love of Humanity. Through our volunteering services, we spread our message of love through Taiwan, and become closer to the society and the public.” He also mentioned, “I’m glad to see so many employees, family members, and customers join us. I am so happy that we get to care for and help non-profit organizations and groups that normally receive little to no attention. This year marks the first time our home office managers will lead colleagues from the north to central Taiwan, and participate in wetland protection with local Life Planners and policyholders to preserve our environment.”
Today, POT members once again formed service projects to promote volunteering in different counties of Taiwan, through activities held in multiple orphanages, nursing homes, and disability care centers. POT participated in the “Letter Writing Project,” a special volunteering project started by the Good Samaritan Care Association, and completed 400 Love Messages. Even though employees, family members, and policyholders do not know the children that will receive these letters of encouragement, all the project participants hope that the wishes and hopes embedded in the letter can bring special warmth through words written on actual paper to children all over Taiwan when they are in need of encouragement.
Tyson said that, “At Prudential, in addition to helping policyholders plan for their family protection, our Life Planners also invite policyholders to write down their hidden love for their family in the ‘Love Message’ on the day they sign the policy. When one day the claim is paid, the ‘Love Message’ will be delivered to the family as well. By doing so, Prudential helps policyholders to fulfill their promise to their family, and pass on the love and care of the policyholders.  Our ‘Love Message’ shares the same historical deep meaning as ‘IVD.’” POT kept more than 19,000 ‘Love Messages’ since POT started its operation in Taiwan 29 years ago.
Corporate social responsibility is deeply rooted in the company culture of Prudential. Through participating in volunteering work, each employee shows passion and professionalism in life insurance, and actively makes meaningful contribution to the society, embodying the spirit of Love for Family, Love for Humanity.
