DEinternational, the service unit of the German
Trade Office Taipei, together with our local partner AOW (Art of Wine) and the
German Wine Institute (DWI) on July 8th organized the Riesling &
Co. 2019 wine exhibition at the Sherwood Hotel in Taipei. 18 German wineries
and local Taiwanese importers of German wines participated in the event.
The event was opened by Senior Manager
Andreas Goller of DEinternational as well as Director of AOW Sherry Weng and
Marketing Director Manuela Liebchen of the German Wine Institute. The opening
remarks also included an introduction by Messe Düsseldorf, which hosts the
annual ProWein fair, the largest B2B wine exhibition in the world.
18 German wineries as well as local
importers of German wines participated in the exhibition, showcasing everything
from sparkling “Sekt”, “Grosses Gewächs” Grand Cru reds and whites to
award-winning dessert wines.
Germany is best known as the home for many
of the world’s best white wines, most notably the famed Riesling variety. Few
people know that Germany is also the third largest producer of Pinot Noir.
Taiwanese consumers are increasingly recognizing and appreciating the whole
range of German wines. This increased interest was reflected in the response to
the Riesling & Co. on July 8th - over 200 visitors from trade, hotels
and restaurants, influencers and media attended the event.
The German Trade Office aspires to continue
working with our partners to further promote knowledge of German wines among
Taiwanese businesses and consumers.
