Citi won the local financial monthly Excellence’s “Best Corporate Social
Responsibility Award 2018” for the second consecutive
year. April Pan, Citibank Taiwan’s Head of Government Affairs and
Country Corporate Affairs, was awarded by the Financial Supervisory Commission
Chairman Wellington Koo.
Citibank Taiwan has fulfilled
its corporate social responsibility on the island for more than 50 years. What the
leading bank does is not only More Than Philanthropy, but also Community
Progress Maker. Besides that, Citi won the local financial monthly Excellence’s “Best Corporate Social
Responsibility Award 2018” for the second consecutive year. April Pan, Citibank
Taiwan’s Head of Government Affairs and Country Corporate Affairs, was awarded
by the Financial Supervisory Commission Chairman Wellington Koo.
“Citi is promoting
its corporate social responsibility in four core areas: Connection,
Inspiration, Trust, and Innovation,” Pan said. “The initials of these four
directions just echo the company name of Citi. These directions are also the
four cornerstones of Citi’s long-term and sustainable development.”
In addition, “Be the Best” is the goal of all
Citi’s employees pulling together. Citi aims not only to become the best bank for its
clients and fulfill its commitment to them, but also to demonstrate this spirit
in the promotion of corporate social responsibility. Upholding the mission of “Taiwan
linking up with the world and the world embracing Taiwan,” Citibank Taiwan has
adopted the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)
as a guideline to set up a wide range of projects in a move to
connect the vision of the UN with the practices of corporate social
responsibility.
In response to the poverty
eradication plan of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, Citigroup has been providing
different groups with a series of financial inclusion services for a long time.
Over the past 14 years, it has invested more than NT$140 million and benefited
more than 600,000 people.
In an effort to support disadvantaged
groups and improve the health and well-being of the general public, Citi and the
United Way of Taiwan (UWT)
have been dedicated to holding their nationwide fundraising
campaign for the 23th straight year. The Citi-United Way Fundraising Campaign
has raised funds of more than NT$1.8 billion. More than 8,100 small and
medium-sized social welfare groups in every corner of Taiwan have been
supported and over 10,000 helping hands programs have been promoted.
Besides, climate change
affects the survival of global marine and terrestrial animals. Since 2006, Citi
has celebrated its annual Global Community Day between May and June. By calling
for environmental protection and ecological education, the leading bank
encouraged its employees as well as their families and friends to take part in
volunteer work and make contributions to the sustainable development for Taiwan
and future generations. To date, more than 20,000 Citi volunteers have engaged
in service activities.
